ROLE · R/03 · BUILD TRIBE

A digital PM that runs your standup — on time, every day.

The unsexy work that keeps shipping moving: backlog grooming, ticket hygiene, status reports, dependency tracking, blocker chasing, sprint planning prep. Done at 09:00 IST sharp, every working day. No meeting cancellations. No "Sorry team, I was in another call."

— CAPABILITIES

Less meetings, more shipping.

PM Cyborg owns the project-tracking layer end-to-end — tools (Linear/Jira/Asana), rituals (standup/planning/retro), artifacts (status report/roadmap/RAID log). Trust levels (T1–T4) listed per capability.

— WEDNESDAY · 09:00 → 18:00 IST

A real Wednesday. 8-person product team.

Anonymised activity log. Every action verifiable in their Linear + Slack history.

  1. 09:00

    Standup digest posted

Pulled overnight git activity + Linear comments + open PRs for all 8 engineers. Posted in #standup-product. 2 blockers auto-tagged to leads.

  2. 09:18

    Blocker pickup — FIN-389

Karthik blocked on missing API spec from data team. Cyborg pings @aman in #data-eng: "FIN-389 needs /v1/payouts/by-merchant spec; Karthik blocked since Mon. ETA?"

  3. 10:30

Backlog groom — 9 new tickets

9 new tickets created since yesterday. Cyborg fills missing AC for 6, requests info on 3 from reporter, sizes 4, marks 2 as duplicates with link.

  4. 11:45

    Sprint forecast alert

Burndown projection drops below 70% confidence. Cyborg posts in #product-leads: "S24-W19 likely to slip 2 tickets. Recommend descope FIN-401 (low priority) or pull in extra dev day."

  5. 13:00

    Lunch

    Pauses scheduled posts.

  6. 14:00

    Stakeholder update draft

Customer Acme Corp asked Friday for ETA on their requested feature (CHK-22). Cyborg drafts a 5-line email: current status, ETA, what's needed from them. Routes to founder for approval.

  7. 15:10

    Retro reminder

Sprint ends Friday. Cyborg opens this sprint's retro Notion page, pings team to start dropping notes. Last sprint's action items get a status check (3/4 done, 1 carried over).

  8. 16:00

  10. 18:00

    EOD digest

Posts in #product-leads: standup ✓, 9 tickets groomed, 2 blockers chased (1 unblocked), sprint forecast posted, stakeholder draft awaiting approval, retro opened.

aman (data team) 09:14 IST

Thanks for the ping — spec was 80% done, I'll wrap and post in #data-eng by 11. Karthik should be unblocked before lunch.

cyborg-cpm-003 09:14 IST

Noted, thanks @aman. I'll close B1 once spec lands and karthik confirms unblock. Logged in RAID as resolved-pending-confirmation.

meera-tl 09:21 IST

Quick correction — I reviewed 5 PRs yesterday, not 4. Forgot to mark PR #1244. Otherwise looks right. 👍

cyborg-cpm-003 09:22 IST

Updated, thanks. Looking at PR #1244 git history — you reviewed at 23:47 yesterday, my window cut off at 23:00. I'll extend my "yesterday" window to start of previous calendar day going forward.

— 08 / ONBOARDING

— DAY 1 → DAY 7

Brief to first standup in 7 days.

PM ramp is fastest because the artefacts (tickets, status reports, digests) are template-shaped. Real work starts Day 4.

  1. DAY 0

    You sign

Contract + DPA. Cyborg's Linear + Slack accounts created.

  2. DAY 1

    Kickoff (60 min)

Founder + your engineering lead. Walk through team, sprint cadence, ritual schedule, stakeholders, "what good looks like."

  3. DAY 2

    Tool calibration

Connect Linear/Jira/Slack/Notion. Cyborg ingests last 90 days of tickets, learns your labels/epics/conventions.

  4. DAY 3

    Shadow standup

Cyborg drafts standup digest in private channel for 2 days. Lead reviews, edits, gives feedback. No public posts yet.

  5. DAY 4-5

    First public digest

Goes live in #standup-team. Cyborg starts grooming + status drafts in parallel. Lead approves before send.

  6. DAY 6-7

    Trust calibration → autonomous

By Day 7, standup + grooming + status are autonomous. Stakeholder comms remain T2 for first 30 days.

— 09 / FAQ

— PM-LEAD QUESTIONS

Sawaal jo har eng lead poochta hai.

Doesn't a digital PM make us cold and process-heavy?

Opposite, actually. The cold part of PM (digest at 09:00, blocker at 4h, status at 17:00) gets handled mechanically. Your humans go upstream into the warm work: 1:1s with engineers, hard prioritisation conversations, customer interviews, team morale. Most teams find their human PM finally has time to do PM well, instead of typing standup notes.

What if Cyborg posts something wrong publicly?

Same as a human's mistake: someone replies, Cyborg corrects (you saw it do this in the sample digest). Every public post is logged with the source data it pulled from, so the cause is traceable. Stakeholder comms (the highest-blast-radius posts) stay T2 forever — founder approves before send.

Will it manipulate metrics to look good?

It is not measured on team velocity (the easy gameable metric). It's measured on standups-run, blocker-time-to-first-ping, and ticket-completeness — all of which it can only improve by actually doing the job. We do not tie its evaluation to your sprint burndown.

Can it replace my PM?

It absorbs the 70% of PM work that's coordination + reporting. The 30% that's judgement — saying no, deciding what not to build, customer escalations, hiring, team health — stays human. Most teams use Cyborg-PM so their human PM has time for that 30%, instead of replacing.

How does it handle conflicting priorities between teams?

It surfaces the conflict, names the tradeoff, ranks options using your declared framework (RICE/WSJF/founder-call), and routes to the human deciders. It does not autonomously pick winners between teams. That's a deliberately T3 boundary.

Can it write JIRAs that engineers actually read?

That's literally the daily test. The standard is: an engineer should be able to start work from a Cyborg-groomed ticket without DM-ing the PM for clarification. We measure clarification-DMs per ticket as a quality metric. Trend on a healthy team is <0.3 DMs / ticket.

What about psychological safety for the team?

Cyborg never quotes engineers' DMs in public. Never names underperformers. Never "ranks" people. Standup digests stay neutral and factual. Sensitive flags (someone seems stuck for days, retros showing burnout) go to the human lead privately, never broadcast.
